The 2025 Chevy Equinox

The Chevy Equinox Stands Tall Against the Competition

When it comes to purchasing their next compact crossover, Springfield and West Chester drivers are certainly not hurting for options. As the crossover class continues to grow into one of the biggest segments in the North American auto industry, it can be easy to get overwhelmed trying to compare all available options. Fortunately, there’s the Chevy Equinox. Delivering a winning combination of features, performance, and value, it’s a great choice for mid-size families, weekend adventurers, and morning commuters alike.

Chevy Equinox vs. Honda CR-V

Chevy Equinox Outshines with Superior Performance, Technology, and Value

Technology: The Chevy Equinox comes standard with the new Infotainment 3 touchscreen system. It boasts crisp graphics and easy to navigate menus on its 7-inch display, and features smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The CR-V comes standard with a 5-inch display and, if you want Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, you’ll have to shell out more cash.

Engines options: If performance is on your priorities list, the Chevy Equinox is the clear winner. With 203 pound-feet of torque, the standard 1.5-liter turbocharged engine of the Equinox delivers great acceleration and more highway passing power than the CR-V (180 pound-feet of torque). Equinox also offers a 1.6-liter turbodiesel for even more torque (240 pound-feet) and greater highway fuel economy (EPA estimated 39 mpg).

The CR-V offers a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, but its torque ratings are pedestrian (179 pound-feet) and its highway fuel economy can’t match that of the Equinox (EPA-estimated 34 mpg). Finally, for even greater performance, the Equinox also offers a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder option that boosts output to 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The CR-V has no other option.

Value: Even with more standard equipment and more and better engine options, the starting MSRP of the Equinox is $500 less than the CR-V. With CR-V you pay less and get more.

Chevy Equinox vs. Toyota RAV4

Chevy Equinox Triumphs with Superior Handling, Performance, and Value

Handling: Delivering a balanced ride and sure-footedness on even the most winding roads, the Equinox boasts handling that is surprisingly adept for its segment. On the other hand, the experts at Edmunds.com had complaints about the RAV4 and the “lack of confidence brought about by the dull steering.*”

Performance: The Equinox offers multiple turbocharged engine options. The base 1.5-liter four-cylinder makes 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. The base RAV4 engine benefits from 203 horsepower, but with 184 pound-feet of torque, it can’t match the acceleration of the Equinox. It’s also the RAV4’s only engine option. Conversely, the Equinox offers two additional engine options a 1.6-liter turbodiesel (137 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque), and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque).

Price point: The Chevy Equinox offers great performance and handling, and long list of standard and available features. Best of all, its starting MSRP is nearly $2,000 below that of the RAV4. If you’re looking for bang for your buck, the Equinox has it and more.
